The Skylark is an expandable backpack designed to be a fun project for both new and seasoned bag makers. It is an expandable backpack that features:
- two(2) exterior anti-theft pockets
- one(1) interior zipper pocket
- one(1) interior slip pocket
- adjustable shoulder straps
- one(1) main zipper compartment.
It has a ‘wing’ feature on the sides that allows an expansion or reduction of its main compartment to accommodate more items. The front panel is also the perfect spot to show off beautiful fabrics and custom made designs. Its pair of shoulder straps can be adjusted to suit wearers of different build and its anti-theft zipper design is one step ahead in securing your items. Its interior pockets are bonus spaces to fit smaller items.
The Skylark is a fun project that comes together easily and can be fully made on a domestic sewing machine. It is a soft-structure backpack that does not require the use of interfacing unless very light fabric is used, and it can be made in two different sizes:
– Small Skylark: L = 25.5cm/10”, H = 33cm/13”, W = 14cm/5.5”.
– Large Skylark: L = 32cm/12.5”, H = 41cm/16”, W= 17.5cm/7”.

The video tutorial is about 1hour 40minutes, and it has been divided into 13 parts so you can watch them in bits. The video tutorial is also explained in ENGLISH with captions. It is best to watch the full video tutorial before making this bag for the first time.

The basic skills needed to pull off a perfect skylark is an expert use of a sewing machine, a good or excellent top-stitching skill, and basic knowledge of seam binding.
